全米将棋選手権大会2025 inサンフランシスコ

２０２５年４月２５日から２７日にかけて、アメリカ・サンフランシスコにて全米将棋選手権大会が開催され、日本からゲストとして石川陽生七段、野月浩貴八段、渡部愛女流四段がお越しになりました。

結果は、個人戦Ａクラスでカナダ・バンクーバーの佐藤勇大さんが優勝し、カナダに初めて優勝カップ持ち帰ることができました。

またチーム対抗戦では、カナダ・アリゾナ連合チームとして準優勝という結果を残すことができました。一緒に戦ってくださったアリゾナの皆様ありがとうございました。

改めまして、本大会を開催・運営していただいたサンフランシスコ支部と関係者の皆様には心より感謝を申し上げます。

今後の予定として、今年の秋頃に西海岸将棋大会、さらに来年の全米将棋選手権大会はニューヨークでの開催を予定していらっしゃるようです。

今回カナダからは、バンクーバーから３名、はるばる東部から１名、合計４名の参加となり、カナダ内での交流も広がりとても嬉しかったです。

今後私たちも、可能な限り活動の幅を広げていけたらと考えております。

※以下は今大会の大まかなスケジュールのまとめです。

４月２５日（金）：前夜祭

大会に向けて一足先に他の参加者と練習対局をしたり、プロ棋士の先生方との指導対局にも挑戦ができました。

４月２６日（土）：大会一日目（スイス方式）

個人戦は午前にＡ・Ｂクラス分け予選、午後に個人戦クラス別本戦第１回戦（持ち時間１０分、秒読み一手４０秒）が行われました。

地域別チーム対抗戦（持ち時間１２分切れ負け）では、６人１組でチームが編成され、プロ棋士の先生方も駒落ちのハンデあり＋二面指しで参戦されました。

夕方の懇親会にもたくさんの方が参加され、とても美味しい中華料理を堪能しました。

４月２７日（日）：大会二日目

午前にＡ・Ｂ個人戦クラス別本戦、午後から準決勝・３位決定戦・決勝（持ち時間２０分、秒読み一手４０秒）、記念エキシビション対局（Ａクラス優勝者 vs 指名ゲストプロ）が行われました。プロ棋士の先生方による大盤解説やYouTube配信、表彰・閉会式・記念撮影なども大変盛り上がりました。

2025 US Shogi Championship Tournament in San Francisco

The annual US Shogi Championship Tournament took place in San Francisco over the weekend, and we were thrilled to see three professional players from Japan: Akio Ishikawa (Pro 7-dan), Hirotaka Nozuki (Pro 8-dan), and Mana Watanabe (Woman’s Pro 4-dan)!

We are excited to announce that Yuta Sato from Vancouver, Canada won the A-class individual match. This marks the first time since our club’s founding in 2018 that we have brought the championship cup to Canada.

In the team competition, we formed a mixed team with Team Arizona and achieved an impressive second-place finish.

We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to all the supporters of the Canada Shogi Club. Additionally, we express our sincere respect and gratitude to the San Francisco Shogi Club and everyone involved in organizing and running this tournament.

Looking ahead, the next tournament, the West Coast Shogi Tournament, will be held this fall, and next year’s US Shogi Championship is scheduled to take place in New York!

This time, three participants from Vancouver and one from Eastern Canada took part in the tournament. We were delighted to see increased interaction among players in Canada.

We aim to expand our activities in the future for those who do not reside in Vancouver but want to connect with fellow shogi enthusiasts across Canada.

April 25th (Friday): Pre-Tournament Practice

Participants practiced with one another and had the chance to challenge professional shogi players from Japan.

April 26th (Saturday): First Day of the Tournament (Swiss System)

In the morning, A and B class preliminaries were held, followed by the first round of the individual finals in the afternoon (10 minutes, 40-second boy-yomi).

In the team competition, six-member teams competed in a 12-minute sudden-death format. Professional shogi players also participated, playing two games simultaneously, with some teams competing with a handicap.

Many attendees enjoyed a dinner party afterward featuring delicious Chinese food.

April 27th (Sunday): Second Day of the Tournament

The morning featured the main tournament for individual classes. In the afternoon, semi-finals, third-place matches, and finals for the A and B classes were held. A commemorative exhibition game was also showcased, featuring the A-class champion against a designated guest professional shogi player. The event includes a large-bord commentary, a YouTube broadcast, an award ceremony, a closing ceremony, and a commemorative photo shoot, which makes it a truly exciting experience.
